Safety Awareness for Women Entrepreneurs

For our August featured speaker, our Special Projects Chair Heidi Brodmarkle-Brun will be presenting on Safety Awareness for Women Entrepreneurs and then showing how Damsel in Defense products can deter against crime.

Heidi has a background in civilian law enforcement of four years and almost thirty years of service with the Army.

Heidi began her service as a Private First Class in Military Intelligence and later commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in the Military Police. She transitioned to the Transportation Branch and completed her career as a Logistics Officer at the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. She has a Bachelor's Degree in Criminal Justice and a Master's in Business Administration with a concentration in Leadership.

Heidi has taught as an Adjunct Professor of Criminal Justice at Cuesta College and served as an instructor of Force Protection to Military and Civilian Emergency Care Providers for the California Army National Guard.

Heidi has travelled to many states and countries to include; Germany, Italy, Ukraine and Iraq where she commanded a Transportation Company in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom.

She returned to the Central Coast with her family after retiring from the Army in 2018.

Since 2018, Heidi has been exploring how her experiences and passions combine and she found Damsel in Defense (DID).  DID is a company with the mission to Protect, Prepare and Prevent women and their families against harm. Our products are designed to deter against crime, temporarily immobilize an attacker and reduce the effects of a violent crime.  DID has allowed Heidi to harness a lifetime of experiences and training; to provide mentorship and tools to help others.
