Navigating Uncharted Waters:

Finding Hope Through Life's Hardest Journeys

None of us gets through life without facing challenges—either our own or those of someone we love. When the path ahead feels uncertain, it can be difficult to know how to help, where to turn, or how to keep moving forward.

In this heartfelt presentation, Kathy Long shares the lessons her family learned while supporting their daughter through mental health challenges—an experience that ultimately inspired the creation of Teens4TeensHelp, a nonprofit dedicated to helping teens find hope through the stories of their peers.

While every journey is unique, Kathy will offer practical tools, perspective, and encouragement to help us better support the people we love while navigating life's unexpected seasons with greater resilience and compassion.

You'll leave with meaningful takeaways for supporting the people in your life—whether as a parent, friend, colleague, leader, or neighbor—and with renewed hope that even life's most difficult journeys can deepen our compassion, strengthen our resilience, and remind us that no one has to navigate them alone.

About Kathy Long

Kathy Long is a healthcare practitioner, author, and co-founder of Teens4TeensHelp, a nonprofit organization inspired by her family's experience supporting their daughter through mental health challenges. Through that journey, Kathy and her family recognized how isolating mental health struggles can be for both teens and their loved ones. They created Teens4TeensHelp to connect young people with stories of hope, resilience, and recovery from peers who have walked similar paths.

Originally from Williamsport, Pennsylvania—the home of the Little League World Series—Kathy recently relocated from Los Angeles to the hills of Atascadero with her husband. She is the proud mother of two grown children and enjoys spending her free time reading and caring for her property.

Drawing from both her personal experience and years of supporting others, Kathy is passionate about helping families and communities navigate difficult conversations with compassion, hope, and practical wisdom.
